Skills Used: Hand and Machine sewing, Illustrations and Sketching, Draping, and Flat Patternmaking
This course was about creativity and building from it. The class was not about construction but instead how well an idea was developed and different ways to better expand on our creative thoughts.
Each project was based off a part of nature with a challenge of a very small budget and any fabric we got a from a trip to a consignment shop. My first project was inspired by mushrooms ,with the limit of 17 dollars. My second project was inspired by rain and its many forms and effects it has in nature. The Limit for this project was 25 dollars.

This is the Hydnellum peckii mushroom also known as both bleeding tooth fungus and strawberries and cream.

This is, Clavaria zollingeri, a type of coral fungus that while it is vibrantly purple fades to a dull grey-brown as it ages.

This is,Clavulinopsis sulcata, also a type of coral fungus commonly known as Flame Fungus.

I took inspiration directly from both coral fungus and replicated it onto the dress.
The tulle and pearl color beads were placed on the dress to represent the Hydnellum peckii.
I took inspiration from rain and the processes that it's involved in. With my interpretation of rain I wanted to recreate was the calmness and energy I get from when it rains.
I chose the bright pink dress and reconstructed it to be more flowy with a split that would constantly run along the skin the same way rain does. The corset made of broken CDs with raindrops on it represents the rainbow that shines from the storm.
To further wrap my idea together I wanted a more literal visual so, I used a net material to create clouds around the waist underneath the rainbows.

This is my second project inspired by rain in nature.
